Meet the Artists!
Waqaa! My name is Andrea Wuya my sisters (Kaylea and Morgan Wuya) and I were born in Bethel, and raised on the Kuskokwim River. Charlene and John Wuya are our parents. Our mom is originally from Kasigluk, AK and our dad and grandmother (Vera Wuya) are from Eek, AK. Our love for fishing started in Eek, where our dad learned to fish with our gram who was taught by her parents along the the Eek River. Years later after relocating to Bethel, AK our dad, mom, and gram started patiently teaching my sisters and I everything they know about fishing. As well as the many ways to preserve our salmon both, in the freezer and still swimming in the Kuskokwim. After all the harvesting is complete, we’re left with a few bones and material. From here, our small business was formed and all parts of the animal are utilized. A time honored tradition.
To understand us, is to learn where we come from.
